Description
The wild rice blend contains wild rice and brown rice which are naturally gluten free. If you can tolerate grains, this is a great way to get whole grains that contain magnesium, fiber, folate and other beneficial nutrients. If you’re going to consume rice, make sure it’s not white rice so that you get the fiber and nutrients (white rice is stripped of its nutrients and fiber). This is a slow burning complex carbohydrate that provides energy. However, keep your serving size about 1/4 to 1/3 cup to keep blood sugar levels from rising too much.
You can soak the grains in a bowl of water overnight in the fridge to help reduce phytates and improve digestion of the rice. Just rinse before cooking. This is an important step if you have trouble digesting grains or if you’re reintroducing grains into your diet.
