Make the perfect burger at home!
Burgers are quick and easy to make and you don’t have to go out to a restaurant to get a great tasting burger. I’ll show you how! The key is to use organic, grass fed 85% beef. Organic and grass fed beef contains more nutrients like zinc, iron and selenium and just tastes better. The natural fat will help form the burger without having to add eggs or other fillers. It won’t taste as good if you use 94% lean beef, so don’t fear the fat!
Let your meat sit out to room temp before cooking. You can add onions or garlic powder if not following Low FODMAP. Otherwise, I like to use salt, pepper and Italian seasoning. Use a cast iron pan so that it gets really hot and creates a grilled flavor. I love using the Calphalon 10″ cast iron grill pan – it’s the perfect size. It only takes about 5 minutes per side to cook, making them pretty quick to get on the table.
Top with all the flavors! You can use romaine or butter lettuce for a wrap or just top with onions, tomato, pickles and avocado. I use avocado in place of mayonnaise for a healthy fat that adds great flavor. You can also try Sir Kensington’s Special Sauce. It really is tasty and will make your burger even better. I like to pair these with a side salad or roasted sweet potatoes and broccoli.

This is an easy weeknight dinner!

- Total Time20 min
- Serving Size4
- 1 lb organic, grass fed 85% ground beef
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt & pepper, to taste
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder (omit for low FODMAP)
- 1 small red onion (omit for low FODMAP)
- 1 slicer tomato
- 2-3 pickles per burger
- 1/2 avocado per burger
- Sir Kensington's Special Sauce
Let meat sit out to get to room temp. Warm the cast iron or other grill pan to medium heat.
Combine beef, salt, pepper, italian seasoning and garlic powder (omit for low fodmap) in a bowl. Mix well with your hands. Form 4 round balls about equal size. Then flatten them on a cutting board or between your hands to get a patty about 1/2 inch thick.
Place 4 burger patties on the grill pan and cook about 5-7 minutes per side. When beef is cooked halfway through on the first side, flip and cook another 5 minutes. Don’t press on them or squeeze out the juices.
Top with your favorite burger toppings. I recommend Sir Kensington’s special sauce, avocado, pickles, onion and tomato. Wrap with romaine or butter lettuce if desired. Pair with side salad or broccoli and sweet potato.
